I took one last jaunt across the old Memorial Bridge yesterday. The bridge had been used daily from 1923 up until 2011. It closed to automobiles in September and yesterday it closed to pedestrian traffic. A new bridge will be coming soon, but not before a 2 year construction project, that will begin in the next month. The new version will look modern and appear a lot more minimal, but it will be safe. It will also be a working bridge, which what we all need. Interested in watching the progress of the demolition and re-construction? Bookmark the Memorial Bridge webcam and see the daily progress start soon!
The bridge is located at the mouth of the Piscataqua River connecting U.S. Route One between Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, Maine.
