As the Social Media Manager at The University of New Hampshire, I’m responsible for developing and leading UNH’s social media strategy. Here are some highlights of what my team and I have accomplished:
How UNH Used Social Media to Welcome New Wildcats During Orientation & Move-In Weekend
This summer, UNH Communications and Public Affairs helped the orientation staff give a big Wildcat welcome to incoming students and their parents. Our plan began with sharing photos of an empty campus waiting for orientation to begin and then at the moment the new students arrived, we were there and ready to capture the moment…
UNH featured in ‘Social Media for Colleges’
When University of New Hampshire announced that Jennifer Lee ’92, writer/co-director of Disney’s Frozen was the 2014 commencement speaker, it was a popular choice. UNH proceeded to giveaway copies of the DVD via Twitter and Instagram…

‘Social Media for Colleges’ mentions UNH
UNH Social Media was mentioned by Social Media for Colleges for our post on the ‘Before I Die…’ wall seen outside Dimond Library towards the end of the Fall semester. Thanks for the mention!
UNH Nominated for a Shorty Award
The University of New Hampshire was lucky to be included and nominated this year for best social media college by Barnes & Noble. Watch our Vine and read our interview all about social media and UNH!
Student Engagement via Instagram
A student posted a video on Instagram during an afternoon thunderstorm. She demonstrated that she was going to get soaked running to class and looked very sad… Since she used the hashtag #UNH, we were able to search Instagram and find her gloomy video. The #UNHSocial team reached out to her via Instagram and presented her with a new UNH umbrella so she’ll never miss class due to rain again.
UNH Is One Of The Most Popular Universities On Instagram
UNH has been listed as one of the “Top 70 Universities on Instagram.” As of May 1st, 2014 the school now has over 5,700 followers which actually puts the social university inside the #25 overall. Not too bad!
